Just a link to wikipedia..somewhat credible
Just glanced thru at first and right away saw amaranth. Being GF I am familiar with the grain, but is listed here as a "synthetically manufactured azo dye" also known as "food red 9". It should also be listed as Red Dye 2 and in fairness a disclaimer placed that this is not the same as the grain as not everyone who sees the listing will be aware or know to check for themselves. Some may even claim fraudulent information. It makes the app look less credible... It's not helpful if I have to cross reference every listing because of a lack of clarity within the app creating doubt.
No mention of Maltrodextrin and its many side effects, sometimes very serious and is being put in many foods as an flavor enhancer etc. a must to be listed and its side effects.
Muy buena herramienta para los que queremos saber que productos consumimos y nos hacen daño… pero no esta en español a pesar de que la descripción de app si lo esta! las descripciones son básicas e invitan a ver mas en wikipedia.
Thanks for the great app, keep on working on improvements!
Just read an article about brominated vetable oil. While my own research and the article list several side effects, this app states no info available. The above ingredient has such negative effects, that it is banned in numerous countries.
Just about every chemical that can be found in food, with information, risks and a safety rating. A great reference!
Thank you!! Great app!
I use this all the time, amazed by what foods are allowed to contain. Would like more info regarding Gluten ingredients and how they are hidden.
I like the application it gives you allot of information on all the listed additive but it may not have all of the additives you may be looking for, you still will have to look it up on your own, its just something to think about when you are considering buying this app.
If you care about what's in the food you eat, then you need this app! Not only is it helpful, but the interface is world class design.
I went down the first four lines of the ingredients on a box of poptarts without any luck of finding definitions through this app. This is a refretful buy because it isn't altogether helpful as a one stop shop when you could do a web search and find something on what you're looking for. As it is, this app is just a list of food additive curiosities.
This is a great tool, I'm a chef and I have to work with special diets and types great app!!
Really needs a search button.
ok, this app is great and all that, you know it has all the general information, but I personally think it would be nice if the application went into detail about what additives are banned by the fda... plus, maybe more additives... good app though... : )
I love this app!!!!
4bucks? needs a search bar + no ads.
I have an iTouch and I love that I can use this in the grocery store where I don't have wifi access. So handy and helpful. I shop very differently now I know more about what is in different brands!
Me and my mom have celiac and I don't know how we ever made it without this iPhone app. It's user interface is just amazing.
This is great I'm vegan and this helps a lot when I'm in a crunch. It doesn't have everything but it is helpful.
People wake up and SMELL what you're eating. Seriously, this app gives great basic information about the many additives that we consume each and every day. I'm learning about harmful additives and trying to avoid as many as I can. Recent: MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) which KILLS NEURONS. Do your amazing body a favor and purchase this application that is way worth, more than many pointless apps you've bought :)
I paid 4 bucks for this app! Why should I have to put up with ads? It's good overall but it's missing a lot
Doesn't list important stuff like casein, gelatin, or high fructose corn syrup... I really feel like I waisted my $. I'm going to keep using my free Wiki app instead :-(
Okay it was a great idea but there needs to be like some foods that the ingredient is in. Like under product uses put some foods that it may be in. the product uses is to general like used in baking or used in acidic foods. Instead of that put like 2 or 3 foods it is in like hot dogs or chocolate for example. So what im trying to say is I want more information for $4
didnt think was worth what i paid. it doesnt give much info
Gjj
I have been living in CZ for some time. So as a vegeterian when first got here I had to hurry up and learn all the words for animal products but then it was even harder b/c things like geletin are listed with e-numbers. So at times I would by things only to bring it home and find out I couldn't eat it. So now I can quickly check out everything before I buy it. It is really worth the money.
This app is very interesting and useful. I like how you've created different ways to view the data. My favorite is the "Diet" view where you can view additives by what they're derived from (ie insects, animal, bacterial); very entertaining and informational! I also like the icons you associate with some of the risks (included on the flip side of the additive listings). On that note, the 'Symptoms' sort option is by far is the most useful option for me.
Very nice interface and the way it looks. Could ask only for more full database of additives
Missing lots of ingredients from the list
I agree a search function would be nice, but just sort by name and scroll quickly to find it just as fast. Killer app with a great interface and perfectly organized info. One of the best purchases I've made in the app store. If you read labels, you need to drop the buck on this app. Trust me.
After I downloaded this I looked up things that I was eating. Kind of freaks me out how much crap they put in our foods theses days. No wondering we are a dying generation.
This has no search button or different catagories of additives that are grouped together!
This app has a lot of shortcomings and needs to be revised. It is not as informative as I had hoped but it's still kinda cool.
This app is great ,health comes frist everone should get up on this it may just change the way eat,we all need to be more health conscious
This is a GREAT GREAT application. I consider myself a healthy eater and from time to time like to indulge in something that I am not sure what is in it; using this keeps the knowledge in my face and staying on a healthy track. Its all to easy to fall prey to the foods our government allows to be sold, this makes it easier to stay away.
Wonderful app... very interesting and very indepth. Nice user interface. My only complaint would be that I find the descriptions hard to read in that the text is too small (also, the italic text is very hard to read). I would love it if it (1) supported landscape mode AND portrait mode and (2) Allowed me to zoom up the screen to see it better. Other than that... an excellent and informative app done in a very pleasing and easy to use way.
I wish I could buy this for everyone! Spend a few minutes with this app and your favorite snack food and see what you put into yourself. I'm not preaching or advocating one thing vs. another, simply that you should be aware of what you are eating. This is particularly useful if you suffer from allergies, migraines etc. The religious aspect is an interesting one as well, seeing how hard labels make deciphering what comes from where. Love this app!
